I took this online astronomy course through UNC’s Skynet project, and as part of the course was given access to some large-for-an-amateur telescopes on a remote mountaintop in Chile. A black & white version of this shot was one of my first homework observations, and the moment I saw it I went back for a color shot immediately. Now if only I could figure out how to work their radio telescope, maybe I could see the 30,000 light year long x-ray jet spewing from its core…
